Working with UK companies in their first year

The technical side of your company, until you can hire one.

Most small companies have nobody technical. So the website never gets built, or it gets built once and never touched again, and nobody knows what it’s actually doing. I’m a UK engineer who takes that off your hands — whether you’re starting from nothing, fixing something that isn’t working, or building the thing your business runs on.

// Where you are now

Four ways this usually starts.

Not everyone needs the same thing first. Tell me which of these sounds like you.

01 / Nothing yet

Nothing online at all

You've registered the company and customers are finding you by word of mouth. You need a site, a proper email address and a domain that's actually yours.

Website from £100 · first draft in 48 hours

02 / Already built

A site that isn't working

Someone built it once and nobody has touched it since, or it was a template that never quite fitted. I'll tell you honestly whether it's worth fixing or faster to rebuild.

Quoted after a look — sometimes the answer is leave it alone

03 / Flying blind

No idea what's happening on it

You have a site but no idea who visits, what they click, or where they give up. Analytics set up properly — Microsoft Clarity, GA4 or PostHog — so you can see it instead of guessing.

Set up as part of any build

04 / Outgrown it

It needs to do more than sit there

Logins, a database, dashboards, Stripe payments, an AI assistant grounded in your own documents. The brochure site isn't the business any more.

// How it works

One relationship, five stages.

Most studios sell you a website and disappear. I start at whichever stage you’re at and stay through the ones that come after — so the person who set up your DNS is the same person who builds your database two years later.

Stage 1

Domain

Cheapest registrar for the name you want, DNS configured properly. Bought in your account, so it stays yours whatever happens to us.

At costYou own it
Stage 2

Company email

you@yourcompany.co.uk with SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured, so your invoices don’t land in spam.

Stage 3

Website

A fast site that says what you do, who it’s for and how to reach you, with the contact form wired to your inbox.

Stage 4

Hosting & upkeep

Deployment, SSL, uptime, copy changes and small fixes. You send an email and it gets done.

£5Per month
Stage 5

The actual product

Logins and roles, a real database, dashboards, payments, an AI assistant grounded in your own data, a mobile app. This is where most of the work is.

From £250Scoped

You get the same person throughout

No account manager, no handover to a junior, no offshoring. Whoever scopes it is whoever writes it.

I reply within one working day

I’m small and I’m honest about it — this is async support, not a 24/7 helpdesk. Urgent means same day, not same hour.

You own everything

Domain in your name, code in your repository. Leave whenever you like and take it all with you.

// What I build

Launch Setup

The pieces a brand-new company needs before anything else: a domain sourced at the cheapest price we can find and bought in your own name, plus a proper you@yourcompany email with SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured so your invoices do not land in spam.

02 / Website Build

Website Build

A fast static site that says what you do, who it is for, and how to reach you — with the contact form wired to your inbox. First draft back in 48 hours, or your money back. £100 one-off, then £5 a month to host and look after it.

Product Builds

When a brochure site is not enough: logins and user roles, a real database, dashboards, admin tools and payments. Scoped and quoted per project from £250, built on Next.js and Supabase.

04 / AI Assistants

AI Assistants

Assistants grounded in your own documents and data rather than the open web, with strict tool routing so they answer from your source of truth and refuse anything outside it. The same approach behind the HEART-Eco Ask AI panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is a website only £100?
Because it is a static site built from a system we have refined across several launches, not a bespoke design project. You get a fast, tidy site that does its job. If you need something custom — a booking system, a shop, logins — that is a product build and it costs more.
What does the 48-hour guarantee actually cover?
Two working days from the moment the brief is agreed and we have your content, we send a first draft. Not a finished site — a real, viewable first version. If we miss that deadline you get your money back. We cap how many builds we take on at once specifically so this stays true.
What is included in the £5 a month?
Hosting, SSL, your company email kept working, and small copy or content changes. Your domain is bought separately in your own name — we just find you the cheapest place to buy it and set the DNS up. Anything larger than a small change gets quoted before we start.
Who owns the domain, the site and the code?
You do. The domain sits in your own registrar account, and the site is yours. If you stop the monthly service you keep everything — we hand over the files and the DNS details and help you move.
How big is AutoStrata?
One engineer. I do the scoping, the building and the support, so you always deal with the person writing the code — nothing is passed to a junior or offshored. It also means I take on a limited number of builds at a time, which is how the 48-hour promise stays honest.
Can you build something more than a website?
Yes — that is where most of our work is. Logins and user roles, a database, dashboards, payments, or an AI assistant grounded in your own documents. Recent examples include a rental marketplace with Stripe deposits, a textile provenance platform, and an economic forecasting dashboard. Product builds start at £250 and are scoped per project.
How do I actually pay?
There is no checkout on this site, on purpose — nobody should buy a bespoke website without speaking to a human first. We agree the scope on a call, then I email a Stripe payment link: one-off for the build, a monthly one for upkeep if you want it. Card or bank transfer, and you get a proper invoice either way.
What happens if you are unavailable?
Fair question when you are hiring one person. Everything I build lives in your own GitHub repository, your own Supabase project and your own domain account — not mine. It is standard Next.js and Postgres rather than a proprietary platform, so any competent developer can pick it up. You are never locked to my availability.
Can you take over a site someone else built?
Usually. Send us the URL and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth keeping and improving or faster to rebuild. If it is fine as it is, we will say that too.
How do you handle data and privacy?
We follow GDPR basics: least-privilege access, no unnecessary data collection, and encryption in transit. For products with user accounts we use Supabase with row-level security so one customer's data cannot be read by another. If you have specific data residency requirements, tell us before we scope the build.

Tell me what your business does — I’ll propose the fastest path.

I’ll come back with a draft, a price, and an honest view of whether you need me at all — sometimes the answer is not yet.
